North Dakota Photo Album Page 2

When I left to drive the kids to school this morning
(11/30/00), I found that our city had been turned into a winter wonderland. Generally,
winters here are very dry (as far as humidity). But some days we get a high humidity, and
then the temperature dips cold very quickly, causing the moisture in the air to freeze
on everything (we jokingly refer to this as "It's so cold in North Dakota that the air
freezes"). And sometimes it actually does. If I had been outside last night, it probably
would have been snowing, even though there may not have been a cloud in the sky
(the moisture in the air freezes and falls in flakes like snow, even when there are no
clouds). Here are some pictures of what it looks. Keep in mind, the white stuff on the
trees is not really snow, it's more like frozen condensation rather than snow falling
from the sky and piling up.
A lot of these pictures were taken around our
university, since it's one of my favorite spots (the campus is very beautifully
landscaped).
