Bath Crafts

These items are from the "Bewitching Beauty" section of my Book of Shadows. Some are recipes I created, while some are recipes created by others.

Remember to test small amounts of these items first! An allergic reaction is a high price to pay for trying a new craft! You may not have encountered some of the ingredients in these recipes before (like citric acid-- that was just a soda ingredient to me, before I began making bath bombs), and you might just find out that you are allergic! So PLEASE, be careful and use common sense whenever trying new recipes!

Basic Bath Salts:
3/4 cup Epsom salts
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup table salt
Mix these thoroughly, and then you can customize them with color and scents. To color your bath salts, you can use everyday food coloring. If you are blending colors, blend the colors first and then add them to your bath salts (unless your goal is a sort of "pebbly multi-color" look). To add fragrance to your bath salts, add essential oils a drop or two at a time and stir. Repeat until you get the desired fragrance. To use, add ½ cup to your tub and enjoy!

Moisturizing Bath Salts:
1 cup Epsom salts or sea salt
1 tsp glycerin or Vitamin E oil
Prepare same as Basic Bath Salts.

Herbal Bath Crystals:
1 cup sea salt
1 cup Epsom salts
½ cup baking soda
½ cup crushed dried herbs
Prepare same as Basic Bath Salts.

Fizzy Bath Salts:
1 cup baking soda
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup citric acid
Prepare same as Basic Bath Salts.

After-bath powder:
1 cup base powder (arrowroot, cornstarch, rice flour, or talc)
1 cup baking soda
Powder on after your bath to lock in moisture.

Bath Gel:
½ cup spring water
1 packet unflavored gelatin
½ cup baby shampoo
Heat the water to boiling & dissolve gelatin in it. Add the shampoo and stir slowly and carefully until blended. Pour into container and allow to "set" in refrigerator.

Bath Bombs:
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup corn starch
2 1/2 Tablespoons light oil (jojoba, sweet almond, etc.)
3/4 Tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon borax
Essential oils
Combine wet ingredients and borax in a shakeable container. Cover tightly and shake vigorously. Drizzle over dry ingredients and blend thoroughly. Pack tightly into molds and let dry overnight.

Bath Fizzies:
1/4 cup citric acid
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup cornstarch
Essential oils
Combine dry ingredients. Add color and essential oil and blend well.

Bath Cookies:
2 cups fine sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup corn starch
2 Tablespoons oil (jojoba, sweet almond, etc.)
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
2 eggs
Essential oils
Mix ingredients together. Place on baking sheet and cook at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Add one or two cookies to your bath.

Royal Creme Bath Oil:
3 eggs
1-1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon witch hazel
1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon corn oil
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1/2 cup yogurt
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1-3/4 cup milk
1 cup peach or apricot juice
Melt butter and mix with corn oil. Let stand one hour. Mix in eggs. Place ingredients in blender, adding one cup of the milk last (reserve the extra 3/4 cup milk). Beat at low speed. Turn off blender and add last 3/4 cup of milk (this will remain "unbeaten"). Stir gently. Keep refrigerated. Shake and add 1/2 cup to your tub.

These are the base recipes. I will be adding scent recipes (so you can make "meditation bath salts" or "elemental bath salts" or so on) to my Book of Shadows pages soon!

Check back frequently-- I'll be adding more recipes soon!
